Appendix B - Geotech and Acid Sulfate report - MCU19-0030
Gympie Terrace Noosaville Pty Ltd Photograph 1: Site conditions at the time of fieldwork, looking south west from borehole BH1. 4.0 METHOD OF INVESTIGATION 4.1 Review of available information To assess likely ground conditions a review of published geological maps, acid sulfate soils maps and available geotechnical information was undertaken (refer Section 5.1). 4.2 Fieldwork Fieldwork was conducted on 14 November 2018 in the presence of an engineering geologist from Core. Four boreholes (designated BH1 to BH4) were drilled across the proposed development footprint at the locations shown in Figure 1. The boreholes were drilled to depths of between 9 m and 10 m BGL using a trailer-mounted auger drill rig. Dynamic cone penetrometer (DCP) testing was undertaken adjacent to and within the boreholes to assess the consistency/density of the soils. Soil samples were recovered from the boreholes for subsequent laboratory testing (refer Section 4.3). A standpipe was installed in borehole BH1 to 2.3 m depth for groundwater monitoring. Details of the standpipe construction are shown on the borehole report in Appendix A. Borehole positions were recorded in the field using a handheld GPS unit. Surface elevations were inferred from the provided survey information (refer Murray & Associates Job No. 61915 DTM). Reports of Boreholes are attached in Appendix A, together with explanatory notes. Subsurface conditions are discussed in Section 5.2. 4.3 Geotechnical Laboratory Testing Geotechnical laboratory classification testing was performed at the NATA accredited laboratory of Geotech (S.C.) Pty Ltd and comprised Atterberg limits tests. Soil aggressivity testing was undertaken by Eurofins MGT. Laboratory results are summarised in Table 1, and laboratory test certificates are attached in Appendix B. J000799-002-R-Rev0 Page 2
