Timing of change to MCU and Operational works
Some suggested wording was tabled before the meeting that would allow building works to
commence prior to obtaining Operational Works approval for the car parking and landscaping
improvements. Officers agree this is acceptable and would allow the applicant to commence the
building works. While it is important these improvements be undertaken as part of the overall
renovations to the centre, the works are not critical to the proposed buildings works. A timeframe
of 3 months has also been included to ensure the applicant lodges the application for the
Operational Works within a reasonable time frame. This is reflected in new item E in the
recommendation.
Staff have considered the issues raised by Councillors, but confirm the previous recommendation
in respect to the outdoor dining area and signage. Should Council wish to approve the proposed
outdoor dining, the requested motion has been drafted for that purpose, identified as new
Condition 40.
