INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 28 APRIL 2015
5. Feedback Survey
A feedback survey was available on Council’s website and hard copies were distributed by the
passenger assistant at the Noosa Heads bus station. A total of 119 surveys were completed (71
hard copy and 48 online).
Points of interest include:
Nearly 75% of respondents who caught a Free Holiday Bus had access to a car in Noosa.
The main reasons people caught a free holiday bus was to avoid traffic and congestion (66%)
convenience (52%) and limited car parks (33%).
21% of respondents were satisfied with their trip and 77% were very satisfied.
92% of respondents caught a bus for recreational purposes e.g. to get to the beach,
entertainment, dining etc.
If the buses had not been free, 50% would have driven their car and 16% would have caught
the bus anyway.
The main way people found out about the Free Holiday Buses was via the street banners
(33%), followed by the newspaper (29%) and word of mouth (20%).
The residential status of respondents included: Noosa Council residents (45%), Queensland
residents (21%), Interstate visitors (16%) Sunshine Coast Council residents (13%), and
International visitors (5%).
44% of respondents were aged between 41-60 years and 29% were aged between 26-40
years.
Of the Noosa respondents, outside of the Free Holiday Buses, 34% never catch a bus and
28% catch a bus once a year. The main reason cited for not catching public transport was
inconvenience and cost.
Of the Noosa respondents, 38% said they would catch public transport more in the future as
a result of the Free Holiday Buses, 40% said they might and 13% are already regular bus
users.
Some of the additional feedback provided by respondents included:
I think the free holiday bus program is excellent for visitors & locals alike. Thank you for this
community minded program.
Would love a free or cheap shuttle bus between Noosa Junction bus car park and Hastings
St. So hard to park down there to get to beach and restaurants for us locals.
This service is fantastic. We wouldn't have come to the beach today if it wasn’t for the bus -
thank you !!! The traffic is too bad to even try driving.
Studying in Australia and my parents came to visit for the Easter break. We absolutely loved
Noosa and had a wonderful time!
Keep up the good work. Passenger assist was invaluable at the shop terminus in Hastings
Street. Good service all round!
Expand the service to cover the entire school holidays and also regular weekends/long
weekends/ events- if not all the time as public transport is too expensive - $4.80 for one stop
is not good enough. Even with a go card it's still exorbitant to use public transport in the area.
Backpackers are walking 45min-2hrs hours to reach Noosaville and Noosa Civic. Locals
avoid Hastings Street as its too hard to park. It would be good if the Sunshine Coast Council
came on board to make free trips to Eumundi, Nambour and Maroochydore again too. It is
really great to see people using public transport- usually buses are empty as it's so
expensive! All the bus drivers have been helpful and friendly during the past week. Thank
you.
