8.0 Assessed Traffic Demands
8.1 Existing Traffic Demands
In order to ascertain the existing traffic demands on the study road network, Austraffic were
commissioned by SLR to conduct traffic surveys at the study intersections I1 to I4 shown in
Figure 15. The surveys were carried out during the weekday PM (3pm to 7pm) and Saturday
midday (10am to 2 pm) peak periods on Thursday 5 May 2022 and Saturday 7 May 2022
respectively.
In reviewing the survey data, it was observed that the peak hour traffic conditions occurred at:
       Thursday PM (PM): 3:15pm to 4:15pm;
     Saturday midday (SAT): 11:15am to 12:15pm.
The assessed traffic volumes are included at Appendix D.

8.2 Background Traffic Growth
The HTC 2016 Study has adopted a growth rate of 0.8% per annum from 2015 to 2036 across
the Noosa Shire network. The study forecasted the population projections within the Noosa
Shire according to 2011 census data, which resulted in an average of 0.83% per annum.
Applying this growth rate would be appropriate for the external road network consisting of
Eenie Creek Road, Walter Hay Drive and Eumundi Noosa Road, however, the traffic analysis
presented herein assesses the internal road network for Lot 3 and Lot 7 only, consisting of
Hofman Drive and the privately owned road network. As such, traffic growth has not been
applied within the assessed local road network. Future developments within the Noosa
Business Centre precinct will contribute to traffic increasing on this internal road network.
Therefore, the traffic expected to be generated by the surrounding future developments, as
envisaged by the Noosa Plan 2020, within the Noosa Business Centre precincts, have been
incorporated and is described in further detail within Section 8.5

8.3 Noosa Business Centre Precinct Developments
The wider area of the Noosa Business Centre precinct has been considered as part of this
investigation. A summary of the surrounding future developments envisaged by Council’s
Local Plan Area map, with consideration of pending and recently approved development
applications, are provided in Table 16 below.
