Figure 5: Nearest potentially affected receivers to the Site
Noise levels were calculated using the inverse square law for geometric spreading,
and Maekawa’s equations for barrier insertion loss.
Most of the surrounding properties are 2-storey residential buildings.
Air Conditioners
The general criteria in Section 3.2 and the measured ambient noise levels in
Section 4 provide site-specific criteria for noise from air conditioners as shown in
Table 5.
Table 5: Site-Specific Criteria for Air Conditioning Plant
Period General Criterion LA90 Site-Specific
Criterion
Day (7 am-6 pm) ≤ background LA90 + 5dB(A) 30 dB 41 + 5 = 46 dB(A)
Evening (6 pm-10 pm) ≤ background LA90 + 5dB(A) 28 dB 35 + 5 = 40 dB(A)
Night (10 pm-6 am) ≤ background LA90 + 3dB(A) 27 dB 30 + 3 = 33 dB(A)
Air conditioning plant hasn’t been specified for the Site at this stage. However,
given the short distances to the Site boundaries from the Accommodation
Pavilions, it is recommended that external condenser units are located within the
undercover carpark.
Refrigeration Plant
The general criteria in Section 3.2 and the measured ambient noise levels in
Section 4 provide site-specific criteria for noise from refrigeration plant as shown
in Table 6.
