b) provide connectivity for pedestrians, cyclists, and horse riders; development. The proposed extraction is positioned in a manner which avoids:
c) provide habitat connectivity for wildlife; remnant and high value regrowth vegetation, watercourses
d) protect watercourses and drainage lines; and ridgelines;
e) protect vegetation on steep slopes; and a Conservation Estate (and its buffer) associated with Yurol
f) form a scenic backdrop for residential development; State Forest, located on an adjoining property to Lot 3 and at
least 800 m from the proposed extraction areas on-site; and
AND a recognised Open Space corridor as shown in Schedule 5 –

Whilst the proposed development is to extract material for clean
fill on-site to be utilised as fill in the rehabilitation of CSR sites to
the south (at Neales Quarry and White Pit Quarry), the proposed
works will also serve the dual purpose of enabling the reshaping
of the West Ridge Mining Lease footprint and the formation of
gently sloping ground levels reflective of surrounding areas. The
hydrological regime would be altered by the proposed works, but
in a manner that returns hydrological flows to reflect the pre-
mining conditions. Current contours were used to determine
which areas surrounding the mining footprint required reshaping
to form a gentle sloping land reflective of the surrounding
landscape and indicative of the former conditions. Reshaping the
land at the West Ridge Mining Lease will enable overland flow to
drain across the Site in a more natural manner rather than pooling
in the mining pit.
