In relation to Six Mile Creek, the creek will be protected by the
following measures:
at least 100 m of separation from the area of disturbance to
the mapped watercourse and associated mapped remnant
vegetation;
a 20 m setback from the eastern most boundary of the
mining lease; and
CSR’s requirement to comply with their Environmental
Approval (EA) conditions for their activities, specifically:
- diversion bunds above the extractive areas to divert
clean stormwater runoff around the disturbed area;
and
- establishing a system of stormwater controls for
stormwater runoff prior to release as currently required
under the EA, and likely to be imposed by the DEHP
through the conditions of ERA 16.
Appropriate measures will be implanted as part of the
development to ensure effluent disposal is appropriately
managed.
Landscape quality and scenic amenity will be maintained as a
result of the operations on-site. The proposed works on-site is
approximately 800 m from Lake Macdonald Drive, and the view
from this road is obscured by the riparian vegetation associated
with Six Mile Creek which will remain unaffected.
The Site Based Management Plan (ATTACHMENT 8) provides
the framework for environmental management on the Site and is
a practical guide at the operational level to contain environmental
impacts. The SBMP has been prepared to assist in the
management and protection of surrounding environment values
and describes how the operator proposes to manage potential
environmental impacts which may be caused by carrying out
extractive and processing activities.
