significance. management of landslide and fire risk;
erosion and the transport of sediments off-site;
unmanaged public access;
effluent disposal;
changes to fauna habitat and behaviour; and
disturbance of buildings and features, including natural
features, of heritage significance.
It is not anticipated that the proposed development will impact on
any indigenous and non-indigenous history, culture and traditions
within the Shire. A search of the Queensland Heritage Register,
National Heritage Register, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
Cultural Heritage database, and Council’s Planning Scheme
“Heritage Overlay Map” shows there are no significant cultural
heritage values identified on or adjacent to the Site.
However, should cultural heritage values be found on-site, all
reasonable and practical measures will be conducted to ensure
the activity does not harm indigenous and non-indigenous cultural
heritage values. Objects that may be of cultural heritage
significance that are identified during extractive industry
operations will be reported to the Site Manager. The Site
Manager will cause the appropriate liaison with the relevant
Aboriginal Party and/or government representatives to ensure
that such objects are appropriately handled and proper reporting
is undertaken in accordance with the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage
Duty of Care Guidelines.
The proposed works (i.e. extraction works with no permanent
infrastructure) do not require fire management measures to be
implemented. The development will not involve the manufacture
or storage of hazardous materials in bulk. In addition, the
development does not involve institutional uses whereby the
evacuation of people from the Site will be difficult and will not
generate a significant increase in number of people to live or work
in the area.
In addition, in the event of a bushfire hazard occurring on the Site,
the Site has sufficient access to water (to be used for fire fighting
purposes) from nearby water sources in the surrounding area
(such as Lake Macdonald and Six Mile Creek).
The proposed disturbance areas avoid mapped areas recognised
