by the Noosa Shire Planning Scheme as being in a landslide
hazard area.
The proposed disturbance areas avoid mapped areas recognised
as watercourses/drainage lines.
Managing water quality is the principal environmental issue for
CSR’s mining areas and is recognised as such in the Plan of
Operations. The proposed disturbance areas are located
approximately 1 km to the west of Lake Macdonald.
Appropriate measures will be incorporated into the development
to ensure impacts of flooding and water quality are appropriately
managed through the control of erosion, sediment transportation,
sediment capture and pH.
The Site Based Management Plan prepared (ATTACHMENT 8)
for the Site includes a Stormwater, Erosion and Sediment Control
Plan to ensure changes to the hydrological regime, contamination
of stormwater, on-site soil erosion and release of contaminated
water off-site is prevented, as far as practicable.
In relation to Six Mile Creek, the creek will be protected by the
following measures:
at least 100 m of separation from the area of disturbance to
the mapped watercourse and associated mapped remnant
vegetation;
a 20 m setback from the eastern most boundary of the
mining lease; and
CSR’s requirement to comply with their Environmental
Approval (EA) conditions for their activities, specifically:
- diversion bunds above the extractive areas to divert
clean stormwater runoff around the disturbed area;
and
- establishing a system of stormwater controls for
stormwater runoff prior to release as currently required
under the EA, and likely to be imposed by the DEHP
through the conditions of ERA 16.
Whilst the proposed development is to extract material for clean
fill on-site to be utilised as fill in the rehabilitation of CSR sites to
the south (at Neales Quarry and White Pit Quarry), the proposed
