The proposed works on-site are approximately 800 m from Lake
Macdonald Drive and the view of the proposed extraction areas
on-site from this road is obscured by the riparian vegetation
associated with Six Mile Creek which will remain unaffected. As
such, the development will not result in visual impacts from the
road.
Upon completion of the proposed works on the Site, it is
anticipated that the Site will be rehabilitated to return the Site to a
stable non-polluting state.
Rehabilitation when carried out will be of a form and extent
reflecting appropriate post mining/extraction landform/land use
requirements.
Rehabilitation works will be planned, designed and executed with
appropriate controls to prevent nuisance and to safeguard the
environment.
A Landcare and Rehabilitation Plan has been incorporated in
ATTACHMENT 8 – SITE BASED MANAGEMENT PLAN to
ensure the proposed post-extraction land use is returned to a
stable, non-polluting and self-sustaining state suitable for rural
use.
Rehabilitation works will be required prior to the surrender of the
mining lease over the Site. The extent and nature of the
rehabilitation works will be determined at that time with
consideration to the likely post mining land uses for the land.
Minimum works would include establishment of stable land with
grass cover for grazing purposes.
As a minimum, the Site would be rehabilitated in the following
manner to ensure the establishment of stable land with grass
cover for grazing purposes:
minor trim earthworks to void the pit permitter and floor;
spreading of soil for perimeter stockpiles; and
ripping, seeding and fertilising with grass seed.
Rehabilitation activities form part of the standard operations under
the mining lease. Rehabilitation strategies and plans are
