Common canopy species include E. racemosa (scribbly gum) and M. quinquenervia (broad leaved paperbark), L. suaveolens (swamp brushbox), Eucalyptus latisinensis (white mahogany), Angophora leiocarpa (rusty gum) and Pinus elliottii (slash pine). In open areas the mid-storey is typically void due to past clearing with A. melanoxylon (blackwood) and Glochidion ferdinandi (cheese tree) occurring at low densities. The understory is comprised of a mix of mown grass species. VHC 39.2 is attributed a potential combined surface fuel load of 5 t/ha and a potential total fuel load of 8 t/ha (QFES 2019). VHC 39.2 is assigned a Low Potential Bushfire Intensity class on flat ground (Leonard et al., 2017). Plate 6 depicts typical conditions within VHC 39.2. Plate 6 – Characteristic vegetation within VHC 39.2 2.3.3 Vegetation Hazard Class 41.4 – Discontinuous low grass or tree cover Vegetation Hazard Class 41.4 (VHC 41.4) occurs in the north east of the site and dominates the lands immediately to the north and east of the site where a low density tree cover is present. This VHC primarily consists of landscaped gardens and open paddocks with low density native trees and regularly mown grass areas. VHC 41.4 is attributed a potential total fuel load of 2 t/ha and a potential combined surface fuel load of 2 t/ha (QFES, 2019). VHC 41.4 is assigned a Low Potential Bushfire Intensity class on flat ground (Leonard et al., 2017). Plate 7 depicts typical conditions within VHC 41.4. © 2020 9
