  ae                          We have polled our members and the feedback on the proposed Council event strategy and
                              the policy as far as it goes is generally agreed. In addition our members note:
                              1) The issue of Road Closures and the use of precinct parking spaces for events is serious and
                              must be addressed.
                                 A) Our members are fine with half street closures for significant events such as the
                              Hastings Street Long Lunch.
                                B) Full road closures are not supported other than for short periods of approx 1/2 hour for
SSS                           safety only (I.e. During set up for the Long lunch, and the annual tree lighting).
=                               C) The blocking of the majority of precinct car parks pre and post events has not been
   SS                         specifically addressed. We are requesting specific limitations be worked into the
 =                            s=guidelines. Our members feel that the Tri for example blocks the vast majority of precinct

 —S—_ >                   —.  parking for several weeks prior to the event and a week after and each year seems to
                a ‘4          consume more space. This has significant negative financial impact on the businesses of
