SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 12 JUNE 2018

Applications were checked for eligibility against the Noosa Council Community Grants policy and
guidelines. Applications were then reviewed and commented on by specialist staff with
appropriate expertise.
All applications and staff comments were discussed and assessed by the grants assessment
panel.
The assessment panel is recommending 23 applications receive $125,634 funding from the
Community Project Grants.
These grants are split into the four categories of programs, events, equipment and infrastructure
for administrative purposes.
The remaining dollar allocation for Round 2 will be confirmed when the 2018/19 Budget is
adopted in June 2019.
As per the Noosa Council Community Grants Policy, assessors and assessment panel members
recognised and declared any material or perceived conflicts of interest and did not debate or
were not involved in any discussions on matters relating to that application.
Sports Field Maintenance
In July 2015, Council implemented a three year Sports Field Maintenance funding program for
eligible sporting organisations to assist them in undertaking ongoing maintenance of sporting
fields that are open to the public when not being used by those organisations.
Council now has to consider whether to continue this program for a further three years. These
agreements are by invitation only rather than a through a competitive process as per the
Community Grants program.
The amount of funding is determined by a formula and organisations are required to provide an
annual acquittal of their grant.
Staff are recommending no change to the organisations receiving Sports Field Maintenance
funding from previous years and a CPI increase over the previous year’s funding levels.

Community Alliance grants
Council provides financial support for up to three years for not for profit incorporated community
organisations whose services provide significant benefit to the Noosa community (beyond their
membership); demonstrate value for money; and closely align with Council’s strategic goals and
identified key initiatives.
Initially Council called for expressions of interest for this Grants program in 2016. Since that date,
applications for Community Alliance funding have been by invitation only. A new round of
expressions of interest for this grants program will be called in 2019.
