RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Works Coordinator to the Services & Organisation Committee
Meeting dated 7 March 2017 and authorise the execution of the final option under contract
1314T006 – Traffic Control Services to Aaction Traffic Control Pty Ltd for twelve (12) months
from 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2018.
REPORT
Council uses traffic control services to provide traffic control to the Noosa community. Under the
current contract’s terms and conditions, Council has the option to extend this arrangement for a
final term of up to twelve (12) months.
The Civil Operation Branch confirms the contract is being implemented effectively with a good
working relationship with the current incumbent; recommending the execution of the final
extension option.
The Traffic Control Services contract has been in effect since 1 July 2014, having been
competitively tendered for and successfully attained by Aaction Traffic Control Pty Ltd.
This contract was extended for a further twelve (12) month period commencing 1 July 2016 and
expiring on 30 June 2017.
It is proposed that Council exercise the following clause of the Conditions of Contract to extend
the contract for a final term of up to twelve (12) months:
‘1314T006 Conditions of Contract, Special Conditions clause 61.2. Extension of Contract:
• 62.2.1 At Council’s sole discretion and subsequent approval, the contract may be
extended to two (2) further terms of up to twelve (12) months. Council shall take into
account operational considerations, the Contractor’s past performance and proposed
pricing when determining whether to exercise any option to extend.’.
Following this final extension option, a new tender process for the requirements will released to
the open market, for a new contract term commencing 1 July 2018.
