EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The project delivery status report is presented regularly to the Services & Organisation
Committee. This report particularly highlights the projects that have commenced or are nearing
completion over the 2016/2017 financial year.
This report also provides a capital project delivery spreadsheet (Attachment 1) that gives a
general overview of the financial status of all projects as they are delivered.
RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Asset Planning Coordinator to the Services & Organisation
Committee Meeting dated 7 March 2017 providing an update on the status of the projects
currently being delivered in the 2016/17 Capital Works Program and note that Council has
achieved $12.58m of actuals and commitments compared to the total budget as at 31 January
2017 being 49% of the program.
REPORT
The purpose of this report is to inform the Council of the overall status of the Capital Works
Program projects to the end of January 2017. The report also provides an opportunity to highlight
and discuss projects within the program, and also confirm the delivery status of projects as they
are delivered throughout the 2016/2017 financial year.
There are currently 152 active projects (not including the individual site specific bus stop projects)
in the 2016/17 capital program as of 31 January 2017 (including the carryover projects from
2015/2016) with a value of $25.4m.
1. Current Projects
The project delivery and design staff in the first seven months of the financial year, have been
focused on the planning and design phases of the majority of projects within the capital works
program. Whilst this approach requires significant resourcing it usually results in limited
expenditure being recorded against the projects when compared with construction phases that
consume high expense in shorter periods of time.
The construction phase of projects has commenced and will continue through to the end of June
2017. It is important to note that the commitments reflect the extent of planning and design
activities undertaken with approximately $6.1m of commitments raised as of the 31 January 2017
and a total of $6.4m of actuals.
