SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 7 MARCH 2017

Event bin lids and covers have been used at many events during 2016. Various Waste and
Recycling displays have been set up at schools, libraries, and other Council facilities during July
– December 2016.

Waste Officers worked with the Noosa Farmers Markets on a two month trial introducing
recycling. This trial was very successful and reduced their waste going to landfill by half.
Displays also occurred at The World Environment Day Festival, the Noosa Show and during
National Recycling Week.

National Recycling Week

National Recycling Week is a well-established and highly regarded annual education and
behaviour change campaign by Planet Ark. Noosa Council supported the program in 2015 and
in 2016 activities were stepped up.

Many activities were organised for the week, these included information sessions/workshops, an
outdoor movie, tour of the Material Recovery Facility in Nambour and E-Waste Drop off Days in
partnership with Bunnings.
