RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Works Coordinator to the Services & Organisation Committee
Meeting dated 7 March 2017 and approve the execution of the final option under contract
1314T004 – Pavement Marking Services to Suncoast Roadmarking for twelve (12) months from
1 July 2017 to 30 June 2018.
REPORT
Council uses pavement marking services to support the delivery of Council’s construction and
maintenance operation services. Under the current contract’s terms and conditions, Council has
the option to extend this arrangement for a final term of up to twelve (12) months.
The Civil Operations Branch confirms the contract is being implemented effectively with a good
working relationship with the current incumbent and is recommending the execution of the final
extension option.
The pavement markings contract has been in effect since 1 July 2014, having been competitively
tendered and successfully attained by Suncoast Roadmarking.
This contract was extended for a further twelve (12) month period commencing 1 July 2016.
It is proposed that Council exercise the following clause of the Conditions of Contract and extend
the contract for a final term of up to twelve (12) months:
‘1314T006 Conditions of Contract, Special Conditions clause 61.2. Extension of Contract:
62.2.1 At Council’s sole discretion and subsequent approval, the contract may be extended to
two (2) further terms of up to twelve (12) months. Council shall take into account operational
considerations, the Contractor’s past performance and proposed pricing when determining
whether to exercise any option to extend.’
Following this final extension option, a new tender process for the requirements will be released
to the open market, for a new contract term commencing 1 July 2018.
