SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 10 APRIL 2018
3. Review of Procedures and Policies under Waste Management legislation
In response to legal advice, staff previously reported to Council in October 2017 recommending
Council address a range of procedural issues and pass suitable recommendations before any
proposed new local law was adopted. A summary of the matters raised in the report included:
establishing the defined waste and recycling collection areas within the shire;
establishing the frequency of collection of waste and recyclables within those areas; and
approving the standard waste storage containers to be used for storage of waste in Noosa
Shire.
Council adopted a number of resolutions (similar to those provided in this report). The head of
power to adopt those resolutions was contained in State Legislation existing at the time.
4. Adopting Resolutions Under New Local Law No.7 (Waste Management) 2018
The recent adoption of Local Law No.7 (Waste Management) 2018 replaces the head of power
for controlling waste management issues that were previously controlled under State Legislation.
It is necessary to adopt new resolutions under the new local law.
