______________________________________________________________________________________
All sewer drainage/house drainage shall be installed in UPVC (SN6 DWV) pipework for inground
installation complete with all necessary junctions, bends and inspections openings. Inspection
chambers shall have gas-tight covers with the denotation “SAN” stamped onto each cover. Gatic
type light duty covers shall be used (except in roadways).
The sanitary plumbing shall also be installed in UPVC (SN6 DWV) and shall comprise the soil,
waste and vent pipes from the drainage points to vent terminals and includes all bends, offsets,
expansion joints, branches, brackets and sundry equipment necessary to complete the installation.
Sanitary plumbing stacks and sanitary plumbing drainage shall be lagged with Soundlag 4525C
and/or condensate insulation as required by the hydraulic documentation and/or the National
Construction Code.
Alternately, the pipework system can be installed in Raupiano, a new pipework system that has
integral acoustic properties, but further review of materials shall be undertaken during design
development phases of the project.
The system shall comprise of a REVAS (reduced velocity aerator stack system) that incorporates a
single stack, with aerator stack junctions and branches designed in accordance with sanitary drainage
principles and installed in accordance with supplier’s and manufacturer’s specifications. Sanitary
plumbing pipework shall be positioned in concealed locations where practicable in ceilings, ducts
and/or stud walls. Any suspended pipework shall adhere to the clearance height requirements in
accordance with the National Construction Code.
Fire stop collars shall be installed at fire rated floor slabs and fire rated wall penetrations, with the
exception of areas subject to hot discharges (including but not limited to hot water tundishes, etc)
which shall be copper pipework and waste branches. Note that the fire stop collars shall have a
minimum two (2) hour fire rating.
Inspection openings shall be installed to pipework such that each section of pipe is accessible in at
least one direction. Inspection openings shall be brought to the finished ground level and capped with
an identifiable and labelled screwed brass cap. Inspection openings to surface shall be located next to
toilets for maintenance purposes.
The mechanical plant rooms shall be provided with one hundred (100) mm floor wastes and trapped
tundishes. This pipework shall be lagged to prevent the formation of any condensation below the
Plant Rooms. Insulation to condensate drainage shall be sealed tube for pipes with an external
diameter of up to 100mm and thermolag for pipes with an external diameter of greater than 100mm.
Floor wastes shall have a minimum 100mm diameter inlet with chrome plated brass screw in
gratings complete with puddle flanges. All exposed sanitary plumbing pipework below basins,
fixtures, etc shall be chrome plated.
Trade waste drainage and trade waste plumbing pipework shall be installed in HDPE, including all
bends and junctions.
The design of the house drainage, sanitary plumbing, trade waste drainage and trade waste plumbing
shall be closely co-ordinated with other mechanical, electrical and structural requirements and
associated disciplines.
