1.4 COLD WATER SERVICES
The potable and non-potable cold water services shall be sourced from a rainwater harvesting
methodology strategy, whereby all roofwater is captured and harvested in storage tanks, with
treatment applied commensurate with use. Low treatment will be provided for water to be used for
toilet flushing, whilst high treatment processes shall be applied for water that shall be consumed in
potable applications.
Furthermore, a bore shall be constructed on the site, and is proposed for supply of all non-potable
water services. However, further water testing of the bore water shall further confirm the
capacity/quality of such water to be used for other purposes – either with or without treatment.
The cold water system shall conform to the following Australian Standards :-
AS 1167 Welding and Brazing – Filler Metals
AS 1345 Identification of the Contents of Piping, Conduits and Ducts
AS 1432 Copper Tubes for Plumbing, Gasfitting and Drainage Applications.
AS 1530.4 Methods for Fire Tests on Building Materials, Components and
Structures. Part 4 - Fire Resistance Tests of Elements of Building
Construction
AS 1628 Water Supply - Copper Alloy Gate, Globe and Non-Return Valves.
AS 1718 Water Supply - Copper Alloy Screw Down Pattern Taps –
Specified by Dimensions
AS 2129 Flanges for Pipes, Valves and Fittings
AS 2638 Sluice Valves for Waterworks Purposes
AS 3500 National Plumbing and Drainage Code – Compendium
AS 3500.1.2 Water Supply
AS 3500.4.2 Hot Water Supply Systems
AS 3688 Water Supply – Copper and Copper Alloy Body Compression and
Capillary Fittings and Threaded-End Connectors.
The design shall encompass all piping, valves, unions, fittings, and sundry equipment to the
satisfaction of the Noosa Shire Council.
Water services pipework shall be as follows :-
all 100mm (or larger) inground water service pipework shall be either copper or poly
pipe suitably sized in accordance with the areas serviced;
all inground water service pipework less than 100mm shall be copper. The size of such
pipework shall be in accordance with the fixtures/areas being services;
all water service pipework within buildings shall be copper. No pressurised services
shall be located in slabs.
