PEKOL TRAFFIC & TRANSPORT
The additional traffic generated by the 10 new lots would result in the total catchment of Elkhorn Drive
remaining well below the recommended maximum for this road type (ie a maximum of 60 lots or 600 vehicle
movements per day for an Access Road, as defined in Planning Scheme Policy 5 of the Noosa Plan). Therefore,
the additional traffic movements generated by the proposed development would have a negligible impact on
safety, amenity and convenience.
Furthermore, the provision of a dedicated turn facility would provide a significant improvement over the
existing conditions by enabling vehicles (and in particular refuse collection vehicles) to turn around safely at the
end of Elkhorn Drive. It is recommended that the single movement turning facility has a minimum radius of
9m (ie an 18m diameter) as required by Planning Scheme Policy 5 of the Noosa Plan. Swept paths demonstrating
the refuse collection vehicle making a turn manoeuvre via the proposed turning head facility are shown in Figure
2.
