Budget Actuals
Half-yearly performance shows a favourable result in both revenue and expenditure for the NLC.
Total revenue exceeded budget by $26,370, largely due to strong performance of the group fitness
program. The program finished the period with attendance numbers up 30% on the same period
last year. Although casual attendances have increased, a majority of the growth is due to existing
members and visit pass holders attending additional classes. This is reflective of an improved
program and high levels of customer satisfaction.
A combined contract services underspend of $11,011 and lower than budgeted expenditure for
electricity, gas and water/sewerage charges fully offset a series of small overspends in other
expense accounts. Labour savings totalled $7,132 and contributed to total YTD expenditure being
$26,710 under budget for the period.
2. CUSTOMERS
NLC recorded 56,846 YTD attendances, up 30% from previous year’s corresponding total of
43,621. This growth can be mainly attributed to the increased attendance of the group fitness
program. Attendance to other in-house programs including volleyball, netball and badminton
remain consistent with previous year’s totals.
The half-yearly cost per visit, exclusive of depreciation and internal charges, is $1.89. Inclusive of
all costs this figure increases to $3.85.
NLC hosted the 2016 Contender of the Codes Boxing event in November, where local sporting
clubs battled it out in the ring to raise funds for their clubs and charities. Over 500 people attended
this event.
