SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 7 FEBRUARY 2017
The table below highlights some specific Operational Plan issues that may be of interest to Council.
Initiatives Comment
Electric Bus Trial The lease agreement was signed with the supplier with appropriate
“hold points”. A separate report is being provided to Council on the
current status.

scheme outcomes of that consultation is on this round of Council meetings.
Waste tender and Contract Council adopted the waste tender in the last quarter. This is a

Economic Plan busy establishing networks with the local business community.

Strategy implementation of the Social Strategy. This includes the
commencement of the Noosa Shire Youth Network, consultation
underway on the Sport and Active Recreation Plan, development of
the Arts and Culture Plan and a recognition function for our

2. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
As Council would be aware, KPIs were first developed for our organisation at the beginning of
2014/15. Approximately 30 management KPIs were developed and these are reviewed on a
monthly basis by the Leadership Team. Approximately 15 of those KPIs are reported to Council
on a quarterly basis. They are also reported to the Audit & Risk Committee in detail at each Audit
& Risk Committee meeting.
As far as the CEO is aware, we are one of the few Councils in Queensland to make this KPI
information available to the public via “non-confidential” reports. The KPIs are included in
Attachment 2.
The key issues arising from an assessment of the KPIs for the second quarter are as follows:
Our People
We are now getting on top of our WH&S issues. Our required policies, procedures etc are
now up to date.
This time last year, our claim and incident statistics were significantly worse than our local
government peers. We are now significantly better than our industry peers with our actual
performance and the number of days lost from WH&S incidents now negligible. As CEO, I
would like to recognise our Executive Manager, HR Manager, Workplace Health and Safety
staff as well as our Managers who have taken up the challenge of improving our WH&S
compliance and performance.
