Doonan was first settled Lo
in the late 1800s and its
name’s origin is unclear but thought to mean “leaf of a tree”. Early settlers were
timber fellers or farmers. Today it is described as “a suburb nestled in the leafy
Noosa Valley” and the majority of farms have been replaced with residences on
acreage. There are a Surprising number of businesses tucked away in various
locations and a number easily visible on the Eumundi Noosa Road. One third of
Doonan is in the Noosa Shire and two thirds in the SCC.
