benefit of external stakeholders at the expense of the Noosa
Community.
e Additional events are being approved that are not in the
community interest and cost the ratepayer.
e Events are impacting on residents’ access to recreation areas at
Noosa Heads and Noosaville.
e Very limited number of weekends where either of these areas is
not impacted by events (only 16 out of 52 weekends).
e Tourism infrastructure is primarily paid for by ratepayers and
they should have access to these areas.
e Many hinterland residents have given up visiting Noosa’s natural
attractions and tourism precincts due to overcrowding, traffic
congestion and lack of access.
e Tourism and events are now year round and we no-longer have
periods of respite for residents or allow regeneration of natural
areas.
e Greater emphasis should be placed on minimising disruption of
residents.
e NYE Beach Party should not be approved again.
e Way too many events currently and there should be a limit of 6
major events at Noosa Heads. For example, there was an event
every weekend in May 2019.
e Resident access to Noosa Heads on weekends has become
very difficult.
e Noosaville and Noosa Heads events have significant impacts on
residents. Particularly in blocking access and egress and
creating noise.
e Large events have significant bump-in and bump-out times and
there impacts may exceed their benefits.
e Residents need to have an off-season to get a reprieve from
commercial activity and to allow the environment to regenerate.
e Overcrowding, over-commercialisation, too many events risk
and road closures significantly impact on Noosa’s values, the
reasons people visit and liveability for residents.
e Public access should be prioritised.
e Too many events and closures of public areas already.
