RENZO TONIN RON RUMBLE 1 SEPTEMBER 2017
The equipment used for attended noise measurements was an NTi-XL2 precision sound level analyser
which is a Class 1 instrument having accuracy suitable for field and laboratory use. The instrument was
calibrated prior and subsequent to measurements using a Brüel & Kjær Type 4230 calibrator. No
significant drift in calibration was observed. All instrumentation complies with AS IEC 61672.1 2004
“Electroacoustics - Sound Level Meters” and carries current NATA certification (or if less than 2 years old,
manufacturers certification).

The results of the ambient noise logging are presented graphically in Appendix C and are summarized in
Table 2. The average ambient results include values for the L011, L102, Leq3, L904 and Lmax5 for each of the
day, evening and night periods. For the Lmax, L01 and L10 parameters, arithmetic averaging has been used.
For Leq, logarithmic averaging has been used and for L90, the result has been calculated based on the
rating background level method described in ECOACCESS Planning for noise control guideline.
1 L
01 is the A-weighted sound pressure level exceeded for 1% of the time.
2 L
10 is the A-weighted sound pressure level exceeded for 10% of the time.
3 L
eq is the equivalent or energy-averaged A-weighted sound pressure level.
4 L
90 is the A-weighted sound pressure level exceeded for 90% of the time.
5 L
max is the average of the maximum A-weighted sound pressure levels occurring within the consecutive 15 minute samples.
