EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The purpose of this report is to provide an overview of the submissions received for the Environment
Project Grants (Round 19) and Climate Change Response Grants (Round 4).
This report also recommends allocation of funding for the environmental initiatives for the two
Grant streams as detailed in:
• Attachment 1 - Env Project Grants Summary and Recommendations
• Attachment 2 – Climate Grants Summary and Recommendations
RECOMMENDATION
That Council;
A. Note the report by the Environmental Services Manager to the General Committee Meeting
dated 17 June 2024 regarding applications for the Environment Project Grants (Round 19)
and Climate Change Response Grants (Round 4),
B. Approve the recommendations to fund projects totaling the amounts below:
i. Environment Project Grants (Attachment 1) - $13,293.00
ii. Climate Change Response Grants (Attachment 2) - $50,000
C. Authorise the CEO to enter Funding Deeds for the Environment Project grants and Climate
Change Response grants with successful organisations, as per the recommended funding
amount.
REPORT
Environment Project Grants
The Environment Project Grants Program is funded by the Environmental Levy and supports the
implementation of the Noosa Environment Strategy, as well as Council’s other key environment
strategies and plans. The Environment Project Grants Program is designed to enable collaboration
with the community in initiatives that work towards the outcomes and targets identified in the Noosa
Environment Strategy. All initiatives funded by the Environment Project Grants Program must have
tangible and measurable outcomes. The current total 2024/25 annual budget for the Environment
Project Grants is $24,382.00. The Environmental Project Grants is funded from the Environment
Levy.
Climate Change Grants
Climate Change Response Grants are included under the Environment Grant Policy to assist in the
implementation of the Climate Change Response Plan and achieve the outcomes of the Sustainable
