GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING                                                            17 JUNE 2024


Living and Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience strategies under the Environment Strategy
2019. The current total 2024/2025 annual budget for the Climate Change Response Grants
is $50,000.00.

Applications for the Environment Grants were open from 1 February 2024 until 14 March 2024.
Promotion for the grants included:
   •   An advertisement in Noosa Today
   •   Social media advertising
   •   Presentation at the Noosa Council's Grants Connect 2024 community grants networking
       event.
   •   Specific email to all non-for-profit community groups previously applied for the grants or may
       be interested in applying for the grants
   •   Direct conversations with NRM Groups to ensure awareness
   •   Details published on Noosa Council’s website.
Environment Project Grant:
   •   Two (2) applications were received totaling $13,293.00 over 12 months. Attachment 1
       provides an overview of the project and applicant details.
Climate Change Response Grant:
   •   Four (4) applications were received totaling $89,806.00 over 12 months. Attachment 2
       provides an overview of the project and applicant details.

Each application was checked for eligibility against the relevant Noosa Council Grants Policy and
the Climate Change Response Plan Guidelines. Applications were then reviewed and assessed
individually by members of the Climate Change Team and the Environment Services Team with
experience assessing grants and climate change expertise. These recommendations were
moderated collectively by the assessment team including the Environment Services Manager.

Each application was assessed according to the following criteria:

   1. Contribution to priority outcomes of the Climate Change Response Plan/Environment Strate
      gy
   2. Likelihood of success
   3. Magnitude of impact of emissions reduction/adaptation and resilience
   4. Value for money
   5. Demonstrated need for the project
   6. Demonstrated need for the funding
   7. Contributions, financial or in kind, toward the project
   8. Capability of the organisation to deliver the project.
   9. Benefit to the community
A summary of the grant assessment recommendations are provided below:
Environment Project Grants
Fully fund two applications received totalling $13,293.00 (one year).
