PLANNING & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 8 NOVEMBER 2016
The applicant offers the following to describe their business and intent:
The clients own and operate Noosa Chocolate Factory which currently operates from
Project Avenue Noosaville. The business was established here in 2009.The family run
operation has gone from success to success in recent years with expansion into the
international market and several retail outlets in Brisbane CBD.
It is the client’s intention to develop a new industrial premises on the subject (site)
allowing them to expand and continue their manufacturing and dispatch operations. With
the inclusion of a café and retail component they will be able to make their products
available to the public in Noosa for the first time. Currently, the products are unavailable
to the public as their existing premises are too small to cope with the demand. As such,
the success of this proposal will realise their long time desire to make their products
readily available to the public on the Sunshine Coast.
The application is before Council as the Entertainment and Dining Business Type 1 use (café
with more than 10 seats) is an inconsistent use in the Industry zone.
