The NAC’s half yearly performance sees sound results across the board. Assisting the half yearly
result were favourable weather conditions during this quarter. Revenue is $8,918 in front of a
challenging budget target with expenses $50,614 under predictions. The NAC’s net operating
result is $59,532 in front of year to date expectations.
The variance in expenditure is mainly attributed to the building and facility maintenance budget
being underspent by approximately $30,000, however this is expected to align more closely to
the budget at the completion of the financial year. The reason for this is that, where possible,
major maintenance is conducted during Quarters 1 and 4 which are outside of the peak customer
usage periods.
Improvements in profiling maintenance expenditure are part of the development process for the
2015/16 budget and will ensure greater accuracy for future reporting.
The General Operations area (general swimming admissions, pool hire, etc.) is $11,464 behind
the revenue budget. The half yearly result has improved for this area, however it continues to be
impacted by the quieter than expected start to the financial year (as highlighted in the Quarter 1
report).
Program Operations have returned revenue exceeding budget by $21,371. Numbers in the
NAC’s Swim Squads have expanded by nearly 20% and numbers in the Learn to Swim program
have increased to 1,049.
The Gym has a current membership of 198 which is the highest number at the completion of the
calendar year since we began operating in 2008. This increase has seen revenue exceed budget
by $13,340 however the need to update ageing equipment remains. A review of the operation of
the Gym remains ongoing and will be the subject of a separate report.
Group Fitness remains steady with revenue on track year to date. Attendance numbers for the
half year are 5,597 which are on par with the previous period.
