PLANNING & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 8 FEBRUARY 2022

Council officers are continuing to investigate further options for Council to use energy more
efficiently and to be use 100% renewable electricity.
Figure 3 shows the reduction in electricity consumption at each of Council’s Large Sites

Figure 3 – Noosa Council large site electricity consumption over time.
Note the impact of COVID in the FY 2019/20 year has shown a considerable reduction in
electricity consumption due to shut downs.
The impact of the additional 77kW solar system recently commissioned at the Noosa Aquatic
Centre is not yet evident in electricity consumption for the FY 2020/21.
Scope 3 emissions
Scope 3 emissions are all indirect emissions that occur as a result of the activities of the
organisation, but occur from sources outside the organisation’s control boundary.
Scope 3 emissions – purchased goods & services – operational & capital
Emissions from Council’s purchased goods and services for operations and capital projects were
estimated using activity data where available (e.g. contractors fuel consumption in the Council’s
contract). Where the activity data was not available the emissions were estimated using the
Input/Output methodology which applies an emission factor for each category of purchased
goods and services deemed relevant under the relevance test. The following were accounted for
under this emission source:
                                 Purchased Good and Services
