INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 23 JUNE 2015
2. Customers
Gallery1 attendance remains relatively stable with just a slight 2.9% drop in visitors in the Jan-
Mar 2015 quarter compared to the same quarter last year. The drop in attendance is mainly due
to the two week closure of the gallery to undertaken internal maintenance works.

Noosa Regional Gallery
3rd Quarter 13/14 8679
3rd Quarter 14/15 8427
The Gallery has held 13 exhibitions over the four months to 31 May. Quality of exhibitions
remains high with the highlights being the Taste of Art, Joanna Bone and Salli Sixpence
exhibitions. The PopArt art series at the Cooroy Butter Factory has been very popular. The rolling
exhibition of pop up art studies, workshops and artists-in-residence has been developed in
conjunction with a collective of local artists and demonstrates the strength of local creative talent
and the benefit of having a facility to support these artists.
Event and workshop participation remains high with 17 public programs being held in the Jan –
Mar 2015 quarter and 330 people attending.
3. People
The current fulltime staffing equivalence for Galleries is 3.4 permanent establishment staff plus
an FTE of 2.3 in casual staffing. In addition they are supported by the two staff in Libraries &
Galleries management.
The Gallery has a current vacancy in the Gallery Programs Officer role.
Volunteers are an important part of galleries’ service delivery with 334 volunteer hours
contributed in the Jan – Mar 2015 quarter, undertaking a broad range of duties.
4. Systems & Processes
Awareness of the Gallery and exhibitions is a current challenge. Gallery staff are reviewing the
exhibition project plans to improve the quality and timing of marketing. The lack of visible signage
is a continuing problem with many potential visitors unable to locate the gallery. This problem is
compounded by the “Pelican Street” address whereby mapping apps direct people to Council
chambers. Staff are preparing an options paper to improve the situation.
1
Attendance figures are only for the Noosa Regional Gallery as the door counters at the Cooroy Butter
Factory have been faulty.
