2.3.3 Wallum Froglet The wallum froglet Crinia tinnula is listed as vulnerable in Queensland under the Nature Conservation Act 1992. This species is relatively common in wet heathland areas on the Sunshine Coast. The wallum froglet was recorded by Parker (1997) at a number of locations in low-lying parts of the site. It is likely to occur in areas of suitable habitat such as wet heath, fernland, sedgeland and wetland areas, however during certain times (wet season) of the year it may occur in other habitats across the site. This species breeds predominantly in winter, and the areas of less disturbed wet heath and sedgeland are likely to provide optimal breeding habitat. Generally, suitable habitat for this species includes conditions of pH 3.5-5.5 and low nutrient status. 2.3.4 Common Fauna Although past fauna studies on the site have not produced extensive species lists it is expected that the site is likely to support a relatively diverse fauna community. The eucalypt-sheoak community dominating the higher elevations of the site support a stalled seral community with little or no understorey, groundcover or midstorey. The lack of floral diversity in this habitat has contributed to a relatively poor fauna community. FAUNA MANAGEMENT PLANSETTLER’S COVE DEVELOPMENT PTY LTD MAY 2005 R79130 (70934) * C&B GROUP
