EMP – CONSTRUCTION PHASE 4-18
Strategy: To manage the quality of surface water runoff and infiltration and prevent
uncontrolled discharges of low quality waters into adjacent watercourses and
water bodies and underlying aquifer during the construction phase.
• At least two events per year are to be sampled based on significant rainfall events.
• Monitoring will be undertaken at all defined locations as indicated.
Reporting: The Principal Contractor will prepare monthly Environmental Compliance Reports
(ECR). Water quality data from previous months monitoring will be provided by the designated
water quality monitoring consultant (via the Superintendent) to the SEO. The ECR’s will include at
least the following:
• Monitoring that has been undertaken (i.e. event and campaign water quality monitoring);
• Compliance with standards;
• Incidents, accidents and complaints; and
• Problems, remedial actions undertaken and the outcomes of those actions; and Plan updates.
Corrective Action:
1. Corrective action shall occur when a non-compliance with water quality criteria has been
identified.
2. Any discharges should cease immediately and not recommence until water quality criteria can be
met.
3. The Superintendent and Council are to be notified of any incidents immediately (see Section
1.8).
4. Corrective action can involve improvement of controls, increased detention time and treatment of
detained water.
4.6 Element C.6: Air Quality Management
Policy: To control dust and odour emissions and other contaminants during the construction
phase. (refer EP Act, EPP for Air and Regulations).
Strategy: To minimise and control dust and odour emissions.
Responsibility: Site Environmental Officer and Principal Contractor.
Management Actions:
1. Significant dust generating activities will be limited during unfavourable weather conditions (eg.
high winds).

the commencement of work.
3. Dust generated from construction areas will be controlled by watering by water truck.
