SETTLERS COVE NOOSA
Landscape Master Plan

The cleared native vegetation requiring removal is to be chipped or tub ground and
stockpiled for use on site. Stockpiles of cleared vegetation are to be located in existing
cleared areas and beyond the drip line of the canopy of trees to be retained to avoid
damage to vegetation. These stockpiles are to be positioned at least 10m. from
protected habitat in accordance with the Fire Management Plan and limited in height to
2m. as specified by the Environmental Management Plan. Weeds on site will not be
mulched but shall be removed and disposed of at a local council controlled refuse
facility. Imported mulch is to be certified weed free with certificates to be transferred to
and held by the Project Manager. Refer to the Environmental Management Plans 1 & 2.

18. WEED REMOVAL AND CONTROL DURING CONSTRUCTION

As an important component of the landscape development, weed removal and control is
to be undertaken as part of site preparation. This means areas known as Residential
Single Lots Building Envelopes, High Density Residential Building Envelopes and Road
Reserve - Landscaped as shown on the Settlers Cove Master Plan (fig.1) will be subject
to weed management either as part of clearing works or landscape operational works.

Particular attention is required to restore habitat where development has encroached
upon remnant native bushland. This is most relevant where negative edge effects along
remnant vegetation to Banksia Avenue and Serenity Close include the establishment of
dumped and or escaped exotic garden plants. ©

Specifications and procedures detailed in weed management components of landscape
plans shall need to consider the following points:

« Personnel qualified to identify and treat weed species shall undertake associated
works in compliance with the Environmental Management Plans.

e All weed material shall be removed from site and disposed of in a council
approved refuse facility.

¢ Herbicide use should be minimal and should not impact upon endemic flora.
Use and Storage of Herbicides shall comply with the Environmental Management
Plans.

Other points to assist control of weeds include:

¢ Minimal soil disturbance during clearing works and construction.

e Mulching disturbed soils should closely follow after any disturbance.

e Vegetation used in landscape works is to exclude weed species and species
considered by Noosa Landscaping Guidelines to be undesirable due to their
characteristics or potential environmental impact.

e Any plant stock or materials brought onto site shall be certified weed and pest
free by the supplier in accordance with the relevant Environmental Management
Plan.
