2503-45382 SRA - Advice notice
2503-45382 SRA
If you need to make an application for a relevant purpose determination, please find further
information here: https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/land/management/vegetation/clearing-
approvals/development-approvals/applying
State code 16: Native vegetation clearing (State code 16) of SDAP
2. Issue:
It is unclear which plan provided with the application material most accurately reflects the
proposed development. Further, no digital data (e.g. shapefile) has been provided to show
all new and relocated infrastructure.
The information response stated that digital data would not be provided however, SARA
requires shapefiles to accurately prepare a Vegetation Management Plan (VMP) for conditioning
the proposed development.
Furthermore, the information response states that the tallest tree near the infrastructure is 16 m,
requiring a 24 m firebreak. However, these heights are nearly half of those listed in the technical
description for the adjacent regional ecosystem (RE). No evidence was provided to show where
the measured trees were located within the RE, how their heights were measured or any
supporting images in order for the tree heights of 16m to be used to calculate the
firebreak/safety buffer distance.
Action:
Provide digital data that shows all new and relocated infrastructure within 45 m of the
category B vegetation and all new fences located within 5 m of the category B vegetation.
Digital data should include a projected spatial reference (e.g. GDA94 or GDA2020) and
preferably be in an ESRI compatible format (shapefile, geodatabase or KML).
Please note that DWG and CAD drawing files are not sufficient as they are
incompatible with ESRI spatial products.
Provide evidence to support the specified tree height of 16m is representative of the
tallest tree heights in the RE adjacent to the infrastructure (i.e. photos and GPS points).
In the absence of supporting evidence, the current technical description data of the RE
will be used to calculate the firebreak/safety buffer distance.
Please note that unlike an information request, assessment timeframes do not stop when advice
is provided by SARA.
How to respond
Please provide written confirmation of your intended action within 2 days from the date of this
correspondence, otherwise SARA will finalise the assessment of the application based on the information
available.
If you intend to provide additional information, a ‘stop the clock’ notice under chapter 1, part 7, section 32
of the Development Assessment Rules (DA Rules) or an extension will be necessary to ensure sufficient
time in the referral agency assessment period for SARA to review your response and complete its
assessment. Please note that SARA will require a minimum of 10 business days to review your response
after it has been received.
