SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 7 MARCH 2023
In December 2021 the Queensland government announced a $2.1 billion Waste Package
including a $1.1 billion Recycling and Jobs fund. The funding aims to help Councils build new
resource recovery infrastructure and increase community recycling rates.
CoMSEQ and the State Government have established a joint Project Management Office to
drive delivery of the SEQ Waste Management Plan including planning and investment focussing
on the infrastructure and behavioural change needed to divert waste from landfill and deliver
local jobs.
2. Collaboration
Collaboration is a fundamental criterion for CoMSEQ when distributing funding towards waste
initiatives. Noosa Council already collaborate with neighbouring council’s Sunshine Coast
Council and Gympie Regional Council.
3. Concepts
Projects must meet principles and objectives of the SEQ Waste Management Plan.
Initiatives are currently in the concept stage. Initiative pathway and gates are detailed in the
image below.
