8.0 ROADSIDE ADVERTISING GUIDE
In addition to the signage requirements of the Noosa Plan 2006, advertising devices that are
visible from a state controlled road are required to comply with the Department of Transport and
Main Roads’ (DTMR) Roadside Advertising Guide. The guidelines distinguishes between signs
that are within the boundaries of state controlled roads and those signs that are outside the
boundaries of, but visible from, state controlled roads.
The proposed signs are defined in the Roadside Advertising Guide as “on premise signs”. All
proposed signs are considered to comply with the definition of “On Premises Business
Identification Signs” defined as:
Are all the signs that are used to identify the business or businesses located at that site.
The proposed signs do not include additional information that would result in the signs being
categorised as “On Premises Advertising Devices”. With respect to fuel price signage, the DTMR
has confirmed that this particular aspect is not considered to be advertising.
As all proposed signs are defined as “on premise signs” the Roadside Advertising Guide’s
restriction distance requirements do not apply and the proposed signs are considered to comply
with the relevant requirements of the Roadside Advertising Guide.
