SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 12 FEBRUARY 2019
The Hub hosted Noosa’s first eSports event during the September 2018 school holidays with
over 50 gamers in grades 3-7 converging on the Hub to meet and watch two of Australia’s
leading Fortnite players, “the X2Twins” (Noosa locals) and challenge each other to play on the
twins’ team in a Battle Royale.
Creative in Residence Program
The creative studio section hosts a revolving
Creative Residence program with an array of world
class digital creatives whose role is to inspire the
local community, in particular young talent, to
pursue the opportunities offered in creative digital
fields. They do this through open days, school
visits, teacher visits and public workshops.
In July the Co-Lab hosted a 3d sculptor and
modeller who has worked on films like Thor and
Dora the Explorer and in August, a 3d animator
was in residence.
September’s resident was an electronic music
producer, winner of the 2017 Triple J remix
competition.
Influential Visitors and Guests
The Hub has regularly hosted influential and important visitors from local, State and Federal
government.
These have included visits from Michael McCormack (Deputy PM); Stirling Hinchliffe (Minister for
Local Government, Racing and Multicultural Affairs), Kate Jones (Minister for Innovation and
Tourism Industry Development), Llew O’Brien (Federal Member for Wide Bay), Ted O’Brien
(Federal Member for Fairfax) and Sandy Bolton (State Member for Noosa). In July the Hub
played host to CEOs from 8 other regional councils, seeking best practices for their shires.
