REPORT
1. PROPOSAL
The application proposes to amend the existing development approval to facilitate a car wash
use on the Noosa Civic site. As depicted in Figure 1, the new use will be positioned within the
existing at grade car park north of the Noosa Civic shopping centre (mall). The proposed use will
result in a reduction in the number of car parks. A total of 14 existing spaces will be used to
accommodate a new building and 8 spaces designated for pickup/drop off of vehicles.
The applicant submits that the “…proposed carwash will provide hand washing, detailing and
vacuuming services for private vehicles. The proposed development will comprise a hand
washing area, vacuum and detailing area, laundry/store and P.O.S office, payment area and
eight (8) holding and drop off bays. The laundry/store and P.O.S office area is enclosed and
presents a maximum building height of 3.1m. The washing and detailing/vacuum areas are open
on three sides (except where adjoining the office) and covered by a lightweight roof structure,
extending to a maximum height of 3.94m. The customer payment area includes landscaping and
is partially covered by an extension of the office roof. The holding and drop off bays are to be
clearly identified as part of the carwash, remain open and retain existing landscaping.” A detail
layout plan is provided below in Figure 2.
