MCU14/0106 Appendix J - Retail Needs Assessment
The proposed development, will also contribute to strengthening the Noosa Shire Business Centre as
the highest order activity centre in the Noosa Shire, in line with its intended role in the Noosa Plan.
The expansion of Noosa Civic will have the greatest impact on other centres within the primary trade
area (i.e. Noosaville and Tewantin). Local market growth between 2014 and 2018, as well as growth
in tourism, would help to offset these one-off impacts and the resulting change in turnover would be
modest and easily absorbed by the affected centres.
The proposed expansion is expected to result in the generation of around 940 full-time and part-time
ongoing working positions. The indirect employment generated as a result of the expansion are
around 630 and 680 additional jobs from the ongoing operation and construction of the development
respectively.
