MCU14/0106 Appendix J - Retail Needs Assessment
4.7.1 NOOSA JUNCTION
Noosa Junction is situated within the suburb of Noosa Heads, approximately 4.5 km north east of Noosa
Civic. It is located within the secondary north east sector of the Noosa Civic trade area and is one of the
key visitor attractions of Noosa Heads, which is also the principal focus for visitor accommodation and
4
services in Noosa.
A large area of Noosa Junction has a business centre zoning, accommodating retail businesses,
commercial businesses, entertainment and dining businesses, and a range of community uses that
5
provide residents and visitors with a broad range of goods and services.
A floorspace analysis was undertaken within the Noosa Junction Business Centre, which also included a
number of home offices that were situated within detached residential dwellings. The following summary
provides an overview of the composition of total floorspace within the centre:
Overall, the Noosa Junction Business Centre accommodates a total GLA of 36,700 sq.m.
Approximately 50%, or 18,300 sq.m, is retail GLA, and approximately 39% (or 14,200 sq.m) is non-
retail GLA.
Vacancies within the Business Centre at the time of our inspection account for around 4,200 sq.m
(refer Chart 4.3). This was mostly poor quality space.

There are a few single ownership shopping complexes within the Noosa Junction Business Centre,
including the Noosa Fair Shopping Centre, Noosa Junction Plaza shopping centre and Suntop Plaza. The
details of these individual properties are as follows:
The Noosa Fair Shopping Centre is an externally orientated centre anchored by a 3,800 sq.m
Coles, and is home to several national retailers including The Reject Shop, BWS and Brumby’s. It
also offers shoppers a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, health and beauty, fashion, and service
retailers. Onsite shaded car parking is available for customers.
Noosa Junction Plaza is a small centre anchored by a small Target DDS (1,400 sq.m) and a Supa
IGA (2,200 sq.m). The Plaza also provides a selection of services. The Target store was previously
known as Target Country which is a small format discount variety store. This is understood to be a
poor location for Target..
