4.7.4 COOROY
The township of Cooroy is approximately 14 km from the NSBC. The Cooroy Business Centre is
concentrated around the Cooroy Train Station. The town’s retail and commercial facilities are separated
by the railway line, with the largest concentration of retail situated on the west side of the tracks on Maple
Street.

The business centre comprises around 8,500 sq.m of operating retail floorspace, including a popular
Supa IGA supermarket of approximately 1,750 sq.m. There is approximately 9,800 sq.m of other
business and community service floorspace in the town.

Cooroy is generally perceived as a country town that is separate from the Noosa suburbs and there is a
high degree of loyalty from local residents. Cooroy is primarily used for grocery shopping although it is
also acknowledged for specific quality non-food retailers. IGA is also frequented by locals for top-up
shopping due to its range of local produce and weekly specials.

4.8 VISITOR MIXED USE CENTRES
The Noosa Plan identifies a number of locations of Visitor Mixed Use zoning. These locations are
primarily to support the surrounding residential and recreational development as well as accommodation
facilities. Retail and commercial uses in these locations are the secondary uses. Development, in
locations such as Noosa Heads, Sunshine Beach and Peregian Beach, is to be integrated with the
surrounding primarily residential and accommodation areas.

The Visitor Mixed Use centres within the trade area include Hastings Street, Noosaville, Sunshine
Beach and Noosa North Shore. The Noosaville Visitor Mixed Use Centre was outlined in section 4.5.2,
whilst the Hastings Street, Sunshine Beach and Noosa North Shore Visitor Centres are outlined below.

4.8.1 HASTINGS STREET (NOOSA HEADS)
Hastings Street is located in Noosa Heads, alongside the Laguna beach shorefront, approximately 5 km
north east from the NSBC, in the secondary north east sector.
