Approximately one third of the retail GLA in the Eumundi Local Centre is cafes, restaurants and/or
takeaway food services. Whilst there is no anchoring supermarket in Eumundi, the Eumundi Markets and
other local fresh food traders provide a range of local fresh food produce for local residents and visitors to
the town. These markets are held twice weekly and are popular with the tourist market.

4.11.2 MAROOCHYDORE PRAC
The Maroochydore PRAC is the designated regional centre for the broader Sunshine Coast region.
Development within this region provides for the widest range and highest order retail, commercial,
residential and community facilities that produces mixed land use outcomes, supports public and active
transport modes, and creates a large number of jobs in a wide array of enterprises. As a result, the
Maroochydore PRAC is a key commercial, administration, retail and social service centre to the region
and is a key employment hub for the Sunshine Coast Regional Council.

The major land uses within the Maroochydore PRAC include the Sunshine Plaza regional shopping
centre which, in total, encompasses around 54,600 sq.m of retail floorspace and comprises a significant
proportion of the total retail floorspace within the PRAC. It is the only regional shopping centre within the
Sunshine Coast Regional Council area and offers the highest order retail facilities. The centre provides
the only department store in the region and the two major alternative DDS brands to Big W (i.e. Target
and Kmart), although its competitive strength is more so underpinned by other factors, including:

 a strong representation of national retailers which are generally lacking in other parts of the Sunshine
    Coast; and

 differentiation from most other centres by virtue of its strong entertainment and food and beverage
    offer.

Other retail floorspace is situated in smaller consolidated retail centres such as the Big Top Shopping
Centre as well as strip shops along Aerodrome Road and Plaza Parade which together account for an
additional 36,000 sq.m of retail floorspace. Additionally, there is a further 70,500 sq.m of homemaker
floorspace situated within Maroochydore at centres such as the Maroochydore Homemaker Centre and
the Sunshine Coast Homemaker Centre.

In total there is approximately 167,400 sq.m of retail floorspace (including bulky goods/showroom) located
within the designated Maroochydore PRAC area.

Commercially, the PRAC provides approximately 90,000 sq.m of commercial office space with significant
representation from the professional services and the administrative or Government sector. Commercial
office space within the PRAC comprises approximately 30% of the total floorspace making it the second
largest land use after retail.

4.11.3 NAMBOUR
Nambour is the business and administrative hub of the Sunshine Coast, particularly by Government
services such as Council chambers, library and hospitals. The town serves an important role in providing
a range of goods and services to the residential community in the hinterland and rural parts of the
Sunshine Coast.

The town centre covers an extensive area, however Nambour Plaza is the key destination for retailing in
the town. The centre is based on a Big W discount department store (DDS), Woolworths supermarket
and a range of specialty shops and services, and with a substantial undercover car park. Another key
centre is the recently completed Nambour Mill Village which is anchored by a Coles supermarket.
Retailing in the remainder of Nambour includes smaller independent stores, predominantly along Currie
and Howard Streets, and with only a limited representation of national chains. Lowe Street is focussed
on services, including Australia Post and the major banks.

In total, it is estimated that Nambour includes approximately 50,000 sq.m of retail floorspace.
