Labour force participation is relatively high compared to other sectors and employment is focussed within
the occupations of managers and professionals. Car ownership is the highest across the trade area
sectors with around 68% of households comprising two more vehicles.

SECONDARY NORTH WEST SECTOR
The secondary north west sector comprises a high proportion of people aged 50 years and over
residing within couple only households. Incomes are the lowest across the main trade area sectors and
are approximately 22% lower than the Queensland average.

This sector has the highest proportion of home ownership, while residents that are in the process of
purchasing their home is also significantly greater than the other sectors in the trade area.

The older age structure results in lower labour force participation rates and those currently working are
relatively evenly spread across managers and professionals, other white collar and blue collar
occupations. Car ownership is high, with 62% of households owning two or more vehicles.

MAIN TRADE AREA
Overall, the main trade area houses a high proportion of older aged, lower income, couple only
households.

Although the average annual household and per capita income levels are relatively low in comparison to
the Queensland average, the main trade area demonstrates a greater incidence of home ownership and
therefore has a higher level of disposable income than is generally the case.

Given the older age profile and strong retiree market, the labour force participation rate is significantly
less than the Queensland average. Of the trade area residents who are employed, the majority are
employed within other white collar positions (such as sales workers and administration industries).

Mobility in the trade area is similar to the Queensland average with approximately 57% of households
owning greater than two vehicles.
