PLANNING & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 19 AUGUST 2014

communications services are often poor, or even unavailable. As previously advised to Council,
NBN Co does not issue coverage maps, and alternatively we identified the number of properties
that will benefit from the service provision to assist Council in its assessment of the public good
                   inherent in this Development Application.
We respectfully request that Council assess the Development Application we have submitted
against its planning merits, and not against hypothetical alternatives that NBN Co does not intend
to pursue for the valid planning reasons outlined above.
We believe that NBN Co has demonstrated a record of real cooperation and flexibility with both
Council and residents in Noosa Shire, and that this approach is evident at Pinbarren, where an
alternative site has been submitted to Council in response to community feedback and Council’s
Information Request, and was also put to widespread community consultation, in a process
                   lasting well over a year.
NBN Co continues to believe that we have put our best foot forward at Pinbarren, and that the
Development Application submitted to Council does have genuine planning merit. This we believe
is reflected in the Council Planner’s assessment, which recommends approval of the proposed
                   facility.
We respectfully urge Council to determine the Development Application submitted at its upcoming
                   August meeting.
Please contact Claire Harris on 3173 8738 or alternatively by e-mail
[email protected] if you require further information.
                   Yours Sincerely,

                        Set
