SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 8 AUGUST 2017
All client files are now electronic and linked to TRACCs (client management software) as
from 1 April 2017. Alll Community Care Assistants are now trained to record operational
notes and update case plans in TRACCS.
During the last year hard copy filing has virtually stopped due to the set up electronic
folders and staff training on how to scan and save documents.
With a huge amount of assistance from Finance, NCS now have a more detailed chart of
accounts which will enable more detailed financial reporting and analysis.
NCS has hosted two very successful morning teas to showcase the centre and programs to
other local service providers. Feedback on the centre facilities and programs was
extremely positive and new client referrals came about as a result of this initiative.
Mayor Tony Wellington helped the centre celebrate the early success of the client
workshop and announced the expansion of its operations in April 2017. The media was
well represented and positive feedback was received.
Finalised promotional material.
Bequest of $15,000 from Audrey Morris funded the purchase of a television and surround
sound system, allowing NCS to host matinee movies for carers and their loved ones. The
gift also funded new crockery, much to the delight of all the volunteers and centre staff.
This crockery is much lighter for clients to use and sized for better portion control.
The monthly program of activities has been tailored to better meet the needs of clients who
suffer from dementia. Sensory equipment was purchased and more ‘keep fit’ classes were
introduced for those clients who wander.
5. FUTURE DIRECTION
Work to commence for the next stage of the centre refurb. Works will include:
- Installation of internal LED lighting.
- Additional concrete slabs to increase car parking capacity by five spaces and in doing
so, alleviate some of the parking pressure in the immediate surrounds.
- Rendering of the façade of the centre.
- Painting of all exterior timberwork.
- Plastering of the McCaw room (covering over exposed brick).
- Modifications to the quiet room to accommodate an Occupational Therapy program.
- External blinds on rear courtyard patio to enhance client comfort.
Implementation of an upgraded telephone system will allow admin staff to assist service
delivery staff with the increased number of client callers who require clarity with the new My
Aged Care processes. All admin staff are trained to answer My Aged Care enquiries and to
simplify the processes for elderly clients, many who have dementia.
Introduction and trialling of programs and activities to enhance the overall wellness and
reablement model currently in place at NCS.
Further education for staff on dementia awareness.
