EOY performance shows a favourable result in revenue, while expenditure finished the year
marginally overspent. As a whole, the centre bettered budget by $32,676.

Total revenue exceeded budget by $35,490 and was up 8.43% on 2015/16, largely due to strong
performance of the group fitness program. The program finished the year with attendance
numbers up 30% on last year, due to a combined growth in casual and existing member/visit
pass holder attendances and the introduction of the new Active Mums membership offering. All
other revenue streams tracked broadly in line with budget with the exception of Retail sales,
which missed budget by $9,677 due to a long delay in commencing expanded operations.

A maintenance overspend of $17,434 was almost entirely offset by underspends in other
materials and services accounts. Labour savings totalled $15,511 due to tight financial
management and contributed to the strong net financial performance against budget.

2. CUSTOMERS

NLC recorded 101,877 attendances for the year, up 13% on the previous year’s total of 89,840.

The cost per visit, exclusive of depreciation and internal charges, was $2.36, down 16% on last
year’s measure of $2.81. Inclusive of all costs this figure increases to $4.54, down almost 15%
on last year’s figure of $5.30.
