Increase in attendances was largely due to the strong performance of the group fitness program.
Several major event bookings throughout the year also contributed to the high attendance
numbers, including:
International Legends of League gala dinner
Pro boxing in Noosa event
The 2016 Contender of the Codes
The Rotary Noosa Daybreak Bookfest fundraiser.
3. STAFFING
NLC has one full-time member of staff (NLC Coordinator) and approximately 15 casual staff. A
focus throughout the year has been the upskilling of casual staff across multiple roles. This has
led to a more flexible team and has created some efficiencies by allowing staff to cover two areas
of responsibility during a single shift.
4. SYSTEMS, PROCESSES AND OTHER MATTERS
A trial of early morning group fitness classes was introduced in May. Attendance numbers will
continue to be monitored to determine whether early morning classes represent a viable ongoing
offering. A group of roller skating enthusiasts are now utilising the stadium on Sunday mornings
which has helped to increase utilisation of the centre during traditionally quiet times.
Operational hours for the crèche were condensed in August (in line with the recommendation
coming out of the NAC service review), leading to a reduction of operating hours and in turn,
projected annual costs savings of approximately $20k.
Energy efficient LED stadium lights and large (7.2m in diameter) cooling fans were installed in
the stadium in December as part of the 2016/17 capital works program. Stadium participants
have benefited from both, with the stadium temperature being notably cooler throughout the
summer period. Overall, both assets will improve the stadium’s amenity and have been well
received by patrons. An external storage shed and a new café floor were also installed as part of
the 2016/17 capital works program.
