6. Aboriginal cultural significance
As previously identified in the Noosa Council Vegetation Report the site could have
aboriginal cultural significance and the local Aboriginal custodians need to be contacted
and involved with the management of the property if identified as a cultural site.
7. Recommendations
The site is identified as housing a Vulnerable Ecosystem identified by the Forest
Ecosystem Mapping and Analysis Project which is the most up to date assessment of
vegetation communities in the region. This alone provides a basis that the site has merit
for purchase as a Conservation Reserve. The site also provides an important linkage
between crown lands and the National Park, which assists with the facilitation of genetic
diversity of our native flora and fauna.
Further survey works are required as the site could house rare ad threatened flora and
fauna species and ] would like to recommend that the site be nominated for any fauna
studies that are to be conducted in the future by Noosa Council and Noosa River
Catchment Co-ordinating Committee.
